Ted & Janet Ohrn

Ted Ohrn was raised in Erie, PA in a Christian home, but turned away from his faith as a teenager. He did not really understand the grace of God until God revealed it to him in 1988 when hearing a message on the sinful nature of man before he is saved. He finally came to realize that only by Jesus’ payment on the cross could his sins be forgiven, and that God wanted to give him a new heart with new desires. From that moment on, God became central to his life and God gave him a desire to be involved with the Kingdom of God above all else.

Janet Ohrn also was raised in a Christian home and became a believer at age 12 when a traveling evangelist visited the Methodist church she attended. Music and singing has always been important to Janet. As a teen she and two friends formed a musical group that sang at her church and traveled to give concerts at other local churches. She continues to use her singing gift on the worship team and leading small group worship for many years.

Ted and Janet met at Putt-Putt golf in Erie shortly after Janet had gone through a broken engagement. God had better things in mind! They married in 1988 while Ted was attending Purdue University in Indiana. The Ohrns moved to Alliance in 1989 when Ted came to work at as a research engineer for an Alliance company. He continues to work for the same company which is developing fuel cell systems for energy generation. They joined the Alliance Christian Center in 1990.

The Ohrns have two boys, Caleb and Joshua, whom Janet home-schools. Both love to do just about anything athletic, but they also play piano and do many other activities. Ted enjoys coaching their baseball teams, which makes springtime very busy!

Ted Ohrn and his family’s vision is to see the kingdom of God spread through the world, one person, one family at a time. They recognize that the most powerful testimony for the gospel is a life fully devoted to God, and so they endeavor to live their lives in that way, and to encourage others to do so as well.

Ted serves as an elder at ACC.
